About the PI

Ali P. Gordon serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of Central Florida. Prior to beginning his tenure-track appointment in 2006, he earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Gordon's principal research activities are focused on the development of analytical models to predict service performance of materials subjected to complex operating conditions. This research is particularly useful for structural integrity engineers seeking to develop service intervals for components subjected to creep, fatigue, or other conditions facilitating a mode of failure. In the classroom, Dr. Gordon's primary responsibilities are to instruct graduate and undergraduate curriculum related to the mechanics of materials. He is a co-recipient of the Leighton and Margaret Orr Award for Best Paper on Fractures or Failure Investigation from ASME. He was appointed as the CAE Link Foundation Faculty Fellow in the UCF College of Engineering & Computer Science. His research efforts have been funded by federal, industrial, and state sources.
